Privacy Policy

Burrow is designed as a private reading companion. Your library and reading records stay on your device.

Information stored on your device

Your books, reading history, sessions, goals, notes, quotes, shelf organisation and preferences are stored locally on your device. Burrow does not require a Burrow account and does not upload this library to a Burrow-operated server.

Catalogue searches

When you search for a book, author or ISBN, the search term is sent to Open Library so matching catalogue records and cover images can be returned. Open Library may receive ordinary network information such as your IP address. Its handling of that information is governed by the Internet Archive privacy policy.

Purchases and subscriptions

Payments are processed by Apple. Burrow uses RevenueCat to retrieve products, verify purchases, restore purchases and determine premium access. RevenueCat receives an app-generated identifier and purchase or entitlement information needed to provide those functions. Burrow does not receive your full payment-card details. Camera, photos and shelf recognition

If you choose barcode or shelf capture, Burrow requests camera or photo-library access for that action. Barcode recognition is performed on your device. When you choose shelf recognition, the selected shelf image is sent over an encrypted connection to Burrow’s recognition service on Cloudflare and forwarded to fal.ai for visual recognition. Extracted book evidence may be sent to TypeSafe/Jev to verify likely matches. Burrow’s proxy does not add the image to your library or persist the image after the request. Service providers may process technical request data under their own policies. Burrow does not use camera or photo access for advertising.

Service security and abuse prevention

Burrow uses an app-generated installation token and Apple DeviceCheck to protect the recognition service from abuse. Apple, Cloudflare and the recognition providers may receive ordinary technical information needed to operate and secure these requests, such as network addresses, device-attestation data and request timing.

Advertising, tracking and sale

Burrow does not contain third-party advertising, does not use cross-app advertising trackers and does not sell your personal information.

Retention and deletion

You control local reading data through Burrow and iOS. Deleting the app removes its local data, subject to any device backup you control. Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their policies and legal obligations.

Children

Burrow is not specifically directed to children. If you are not permitted to make purchases yourself, use the app only with a parent or guardian.

Changes

We may update this policy when Burrow’s features or service providers change. The current version will remain available at this URL with its effective date.
